Bearwallow Beast 5K Trail Run & Festival

Bearwallow Beast 5K Trail Run & Festival

We are so excited to be teaming up with Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy (CMLC) to help put on the 2nd Annual Bearwallow Beast 5K Trail Run and Festival! If you’re an avid runner and looking for a challenge, you MUST take part in this race! Voted one of “WNC’s Best Foot Races of 2012” by Mountain Express readers, the Beast is the one of the fiercest 5K runs in the Southeast, entailing 1400 feet of elevation gain over a 3.1 mile trail to the top of Bearwallow Mountain. Runners will travel over not only asphalt, but also forest service roads and single track trails.

Of course, the best part of this event is reaching the peak, where a festival will be in full swing!  Whether you are a runner or not, please come out to enjoy the live music, as well as the local food and beverages being served. There’s nothing better than enjoying good food and music with friends and family, except of course if you’re also at the top of a beautiful mountain peak in WNC!

One of the reasons we love this particular event so much is due to its goal of preserving the land in WNC. Bearwallow Mountain and CMLC have partnered together to ensure that 164 acres of land, including the public trail that the Beast runners will use, are permanently protected. The proceeds of Bearwallow Beast will be used for the conservation of the adjoining acres. In fact, CMLC recently purchased 84 acres on the mountaintop, a sign that their efforts are certainly working!
